FEATURED WORK

I am an artist living on the Island of Kaua'i. My medium of choice is scratchboard, which consists of a hardboard panel covered by a smooth layer of white porcelain clay, which, in turn is covered with india ink. Using knives created for the purpose, I cut through the ink revealing the white clay underneath. Having previously worked in pen and ink (basically black on white) I now work in the reverse, bringing white out of the black. The effects created can be bold designs in sharp contrast, or, more subtle, appearing to be sculptural, or illuminated, or even layered with one image over another.
